The committee then sits to examine the applications for suitable candidates who will then be presented to the Stakeholders for approval during Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Embe Water & Sanitation Company is a Water Service Provider registered by guarantee and is an agent of County Government of Embu, mandated to provide water services within Mbeere North Sub-county and its environs in Embu County.

The board of directors comprises representatives of stakeholders identified by Embu County Government and the Board of Directors of Embe Water & Sanitation Company in accordance with the Corporate Governance guidelines for water sector institutions issued by the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB).

The Board of the Company has two (2) vacancies in the following categories:

  • Professional body
  • Religious organizations
  • Special interest groups
  • Resident organizations

The applicants must meet the following criteria;

  1. Minimum of a Bachelor degree from a recognized university
  2. Minimum seven years (7) years working experience in a core profession
  3. Must meet leadership and integrity criteria under the Constitution of Kenya 2010 chapter 6 and meets WASREB fit and proper test which is Annex 2 to the corporate governance guidelines
  4. Represent Known registered stakeholders group

Note: Interested applicants are required to obtain CURRENT(issued within the last 12 months) clearance certificate from the following bodies:

  1. Kenya Revenue Authority  (KRA)
  2. Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  3. Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC)
  4. Criminal Investigation Department (Certificate of Good Conduct) and
  5. Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)

A.FINANCE OFFICER (ONE POST)

Job Title: Finance Officer

Department: Finance and Administration

Reports To:Finance Administrative Manager

Responsible For: Finance, Accounts, Revenue, Human Resource, Procurement and Administration

Overall Purpose of the job;

The finance and Administrative Manager will ensure that all the financial resources of the company are well managed, prudently invested, fully accounted for and reported efficiently.

Key Responsibilities;

  1. Developing and reviewing financial and accounting policies and procedures in the company
  2. Analyzing viability of new business ventures and services for the company
  3. Ensures compliance with financial and accounting standards and regulations
  4. Coordinating preparation of budget and ensuring implementation and controls as per approved levels
  5. Ensuring preparation and presentation of financial reports to the Board as per approved policy
  6. Planning, coordinating, implanting and controlling financial resources and accounting procedures
  7. Attending to queries raised in the Audit reports
  8. Managing all the affairs relating to the company’s human resources including but not limited to recruitment, training and development.
  9. Ensuring proper utilization and timely maintenance of all company assets and resources.
  10. Ensuring positive corporate image
  11. Carrying out reconciliation of all accounts as per approved policy
  12. Advices the Managing Director on the financial viability of proposed projects and investments
  13. Manage accounting support staff with specific performance targets

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Business related field, such as commerce and Economics, preferably in accounting and finance option, or its equivalent from a recognized Institution/University in Kenya
  • Have at CCP qualifications
  • Minimum 3(three) years’ experience in a medium or large commercial environment, preferably in water sector
  • Good knowledge in accounting and financial management
  • Good knowledge of computerized financial systems
  • Ability to negotiate budgets at the highest levels
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently meet strict deadlines is mandatory
  • Literate in computer applications preferable Accounting software
  • Merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results

The Human Resources and Administrative Officer will be responsible for the management of Human Resources and Administration functions of the company.

  3. Plays a key role in recruitment, placement, training and development of staff

  6. Manage staff grievances in accordance with the company policies and Kenyan labour laws

C.NON-REVENUE WATER OFFICER(ONE POST)

Job Title –Non- Revenue water officer (NRM/UFW)-

Department –Technical

Reports to: Technical Manager

Over all purpose of the job

To ensure that NRW is brought down to manageable levels of 30% and maintaining it there

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop and reviewing plans and strategies for the NRW unit.
  • Identify the possible cause of UFW throughout the company’s area of jurisdiction and formulation appropriate measures /actions to be taken to improve on this.
  • Communicating / reporting findings  and recommendations of research carried out  in (B) above  to management
  • Coordinating, directing  and managing the non –revenue water unit operations  to ensure UFW is brought  down to acceptable levels
  • Monitoring /routine inspection of water supply systems
  • Developing long and short term, policies and strategies to facilitate achievement of overall company’s objectives.
  • Establish performance standards  and targets for your staff
  • Supervising, appraising staff and identifying  their training and development needs  
  • Performing any other duties that may be assigned to you by Technical Manager or General Manager.

Job Specification

  • Diploma in water and wastewater engineering
  • 3years experience in the water sector

Job Title –stores clerk

Department –Finance and Administration

Reports to- Procurement officer

Overall, responsibilities

Responsible for stock taking of materials in the stores, issuing materials to be supplied to various department at the right time  as well as providing necessary records and  information

Key job responsibilities

  • Receive goods ordered and verify the quality and quantity prior to receipt
  • Assist the procurement officer assistant in issuing supplies to staff
  • Process documents relating to LPOs and LSOs, invoices, Note books items etc.
  • Process and update  stores requisites documents  and arranges  the ware house
  • Check records  and prepare  documents related to general purchase and ensure  that they are handled properly,
  • Prepare requisition for required materials in consultation with procurement manager
  • Update the bin cards daily and produce monthly summaries as required
  • Promptly notifies the stores and supplies of restocking requirement.
  • Keeps the stores clean and arranges  the goods in an orderly manner
  • Performing any other duties that may be assigned to you by Technical Manager or General Manager

Job Specification

  • Minimum requirement ‘O’ level /KCSE  education
  • Stores and supplies management certificate or CIPS formulation stage
  • 3 years of relevant experience
  • Computer literate
