COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT&PARTNERSHIP

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

It is the company’s responsibility to have a sound corporate social responsibility as a way of ensuring that community is engaged in every project undertaken to accommodate their views on its implementation.

The company also takes priority on its residents within its jurisdiction who have no access to clean and safe water due to their economic status and initiate a community driven projects to have them covered.

Makunguru community service line in Saiakago is one of the successful community-led project that saw partnership between the company, well-wisher and the community come together and successfully connect their members with clean and safe water.

Ciaikungugu school and the larger community of Evurore in Ishiara also saw the partnership successfully connect more than 200 consumers to the line including the school itself. This is in line with the company’s pro-poor policy to ensure the Low Income Areas (LIA) are fully connected to clean water.

The company also aligns itself with the National policies on environmental conservation, particularly to the call of president, H.E Dr. William Samuei Ruto to engage in a tree planting exercise to ensure Kenya achieves 15 billion tree cover by the year 2032.

The company participated in tree planting exercise in collaboration with the Embu County Ministry of Water & Sanitation and Irrigation and the Upper WRUA at Enna intake. This is in line with the company’s strategic plan to ensure the water catchment areas are protected. The community sensitization on water resource management is also undertaken to empower communities on how to adopt to climatic changes.

The company also joins the world in celebrating Important International days. It participated in marking the International Water Day on 22nd March 2024 by planting trees and sensitizing staff on the importance of dedicated service delivery in promoting peace in the water sector.
